My Baptism

When it comes to water baptism, you can do it as many times are you want or feel necessary. and it is encouraged for those who lack confidence in there initial baptism experience because they don’t remember it, they were coerced, or their heart was not right with God at the time because of deceit or lack of real repentance. This is my first time ๐Ÿ™‚

Personally I decided to get baptized because I just couldn’t go on without the desire burning in my spirit to be baptized, confirming my faith in HIM. I had needed to completely wash away the old man inside. I already repented of my old ways and wilful sin and felt it was a calling to truly be washed away. A declaration of my faith and obedience, to express trust in Christ (Acts 8:12-13), and to testify to God’s work in my life (Romans 6:1-8; Galatians 3:27). Don’t let anyone tell you, you aren’t truly born again or received the Spirit of God unless you’re water baptized because this is simply not true. Anyway, I knew I was ready when I had done a great deal of prayer and studying on the matter and came to grow deeper in love with God through it all! It was definitely the next step through my journey.

Before I get started with how mine came to be, here are some key verses about water baptism:

Acts 2:38 – Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

1 Peter 3:21 – The like figure whereunto [even] baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

Mark 16:16 – He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Acts 22:16
– And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.

John 3:5 – Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and [of] the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Romans 6:4 – Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Matthew 3:11 – I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and [with] fire:

Galatians 3:27 – For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

Matthew 28:19 – Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Acts 10:48 – And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days.

Matthew 3:16 – And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:

Acts 8:36-39 – And as they went on [their] way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, [here is] water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? (Read More…)

Matthew 28:18-20 – And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. (Read More…)

Colossians 2:12 – Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with [him] through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

Romans 6:3 – Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

Acts 8:38 – And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.

Acts 10:47 – Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we?

Acts 2:41 – Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added [unto them] about three thousand souls.

“All those who are willing to repent of their sins and confess their belief in Christ should be baptized! The word for “baptism” in the New Testament is the Greek word baptizo, which means “to immerse in water.” The New Testament says baptism represents the death, burial and resurrection of Christ (Romans 6:1-5). Baptism serves as a symbol of the burial of the old self and the resurrection of the believer to walk in new life with Christ. A person should be baptized at the time he or she trusts in and surrenders to Christ. The Bible teaches we are saved by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8)but we MUST endure until the end Matthew 24:13) however, in the New Testament church, a person’s baptism was always the first expression of Faith, not separate from it. So baptism was not just a symbol or a memorial of Faith, but was intended to offer a means of union with Christ and a benchmark of transformation, making the place and time a person made a commitment to Christ (Romans 6:1-8). Therefore a person should be baptized at the point that he or she is ready to make a commitment to Christ.” ๐Ÿ™

So at this time I had not found a church to grow with and be baptized where I currently live and knew I wanted this to be special. I didn’t just want to dunk myself in the bath and call it good. I waited 7 months after I became born-again to get water baptized. I was on my way to Yosemite with my family and knew this would be the perfect weekend.

I had also met my beautiful youngest sister for the first time from my dads side and that was an amazing experience on its own! She is gorgeous, awesome, funny and it was one of the greatest moments of my life โค๏ธ I love her so muchhh! We have so many things in common and we connected right away like we were always meant to be sisters. ๐Ÿ˜˜

I also had my friend up from hours away that I haven’t seen in forever and she would be the perfect vessel to help me accomplish this. She was willing and full of Jesus! The day I decided to go for it I could tell the enemy did not want me doing it. I had pre-planned the waterfall that i’d be dunked under and wanted to do it before sun-down. It was already late in the day and we missed our exit through the park and were just about to wait another hour through the bus ride to come back to it. I was upset, things weren’t going as planned by far,  and I had caught attitude with everything. “I waited so long for this moment.” I continued to sink in my fleshly sorrow.  My sister and my friend decided it might be faster to hike up to the waterfall instead and so we got off at the next exit. At this point the enemy was so full of it in my ear telling me just don’t do it, its already ruined, whatever, lets turn around now! and my friend said Lorena, wait. She went and sat on a rock and prayed for me. Bless her heart! I instantly felt less attacked and was determined to be free-spirited the rest of the way and to just trust in Gods will. He wants this for me! So we hiked up the mountain..

When we got to the top we then climbed up some rocks and I seen a beautiful full rainbow overhead that was dazzling! “this is it!” we shouted. We had found a swimming hole to climb down and it was also shallow enough to keep up safe.

Then we prayed for His blessing and I did a personal one of letting go and giving all to Him more than I was already. It got a lot deeper than that but once we were done praying, I did it! I could just feel the suns warm rays and the feel of the wind on my face just glorifying God and surrounding my entire being! I am HIS!

Praise the Lord! He’d freed me from worry and anxiety that day and had me in the best mood once we prayed to let go and let God! Not only did I get to meet my sweet sister but I also got baptized!? talk about #blessed! and ofcourse, in the name of the Father, Son, & Holy Spirit; under a gorgeus waterfall (that was dazzling with a full rainbow overhead) by one of my best friends and sisters in Christ! This was such a beautiful experience I canot put into words the actual feeling and I cried like a baby being so overwhelmed and tingly after! It literally felt supernatural โค๏ธ God is so good, and the greatest part of who I am. This is hands down (other than the day i was saved and the day I gave birth to my darling baby girl) one of the best days of my life!! The water was freeeezing cold as it is melted snow in high elevation! I had a cold after lol โ„๏ธ but so so worth it! I am yours Lord!!! For eternity ๐Ÿ™
